"Morning deer"

We (4 Marine detachment) were guarding a makeshift ammo dump on San Clemente Island off Oceanside, CA for a future live fire operation. We were there 2 weeks pulling guard duty babysitting about 20 tons of ammo in a makeshift camp. That island has protected foxes and we were forbidden to touch them per Navy and state of CA regs. One night I'm pulling my 4 hours at about 0100 and I see a little fox approach my buddy who's sleeping with a beanie (watch cap) on his head under a full moon. This little guy approaches my friend, sniffs the beanie and snatches it off his sleeping head and shakes it a few times and runs away with it! Guy wakes up and looks at me and asks in a low voice, "WTF just happened?" I told him a fox stole his beanie off his head and he went right back to sleep to ask me the same question the next morning. Cute little guys....the foxes! We got coyotes here that are protected (WTH?) that I would have no problem putting a .25 pellet into at 30 yards. My rifle has a suppressor on it so it sounds like a door closing.
