What Are You Doing To/With Your Car Today?

Apparently, if you don't have all the required brackets for the alternator, you'll snap some bolts! So, I fabricated a temporary bracket until I can get an OEM bracket. Although, I'm not sure I need to spend the money on an OEM bracket....

It's not perfect, but it'll do the trick.

Hotrodding 101

Remind me to check the basement tomorrow
I may have one kicking around

My linkage clears everything. But I designed it. So why wouldn't it. :) Just gotta extend the rod along the firewall next.

Wow some info ^^^^^ I could use here on the type of 383/727 kickdown linkage needed for a '67 Dart Big Block setup.

3 piece linkage??? Got any pics of your's laid out ??

Here are some pics of what we got going here:

__________

Just fired up the fresh built 383 engine today here at the shop. That is one tight engine, was concerned it was too tight. After running in the cam it is now starting and running nice, very responsive on the 4 bbl.

Need to get her in a car and run it down the road, still tight but will be fine. Running Good.

Not sure if this is helpful, but I combined my original 2 barrel throttle bracket with a 4 barrel manual bracket I had to make a new bracket for my 361. It hooked up perfectly to the original linkage for the transmission, once I reversed the original 2 barrel kickdown arm.

On my bracket you see a small machine screw passing thru 3 holes. That is locked position for carb to bell crank proper length. And the bell crank to trans rod length. Make that your starting point when you adjust both rods. When your done. Remove the long screw. They used a T handle on the assembly line. So the people didn't have to think. Put the T handle in. Adjust both rods till they fit. Remove the T handle. Super easy once you know the trick. :)

Yeah, thanks these pictures help a lot. Pretty sure going to need the 3 piece linkage.

Going to start at the top like you have pictured here, then go down to the next pivot point on the trans. Then the final short leg to the trans pressure valve arm.

Got enough spare linkages here, will probably end up modifying a few pieces to make it all work.

Thanks for the pics.

Rough Draft on laying out the 383/727 kickdown linkage that is going into '67 big block Dart.

Assorted parts on hand, piecing it together.
Basically a 383 2 bbl. Intake manifold throttle/kickdown bracket that will be modified to work with the taller Performer Air Gap aluminum intake manifold and Edelbrock carb.

Going to modify upper bracket and lengthen upper linkage rod tomorrow to get the geometry right.

Thanks to the other members for the pics and how to tips.

Try flipping the kickdown arm over from the carb to the other side of the bellcrank. It should give you better clearance like mine.

Pay attention to where the pivot point for the bell crank is on a 383 2 bbl intake. Does it over hang the intake? It's gotta be in the same front to back location. Or the bell crank will hit your firewall.

I went out for a ride with the family on Sunday, and we passed by the old funeral home where I took a photo of my GTX some time ago, so I thought I would recreate that pic in the Roadrunner.

I see your using a drill bit to keep all those little bracket holes lined up. Good job. :)

took the duster out for a nice drive today

a friend took the kids for a few house, so i had some time to myself and i had ran across something on craigslist i wanted, so it was the perfect chance for a shakedown run

i think i finally found the fuel issue i had been having, so im glad i got that figured out BUT a transmission issue i thought i had licked showed back up again, so it was a "one step forward, two steps back" kinda day

Still a little work to do on headliner..
