I was going to say Dutch "Golden Age". They were known for their Realism and seascape and maritime scenes were common.

(without giving away too much of the show, it seems like the epidemy of culture is preserved in that office, so it almost has to have been painted by a Dutchman...i mean, you never heard of french masters, have you?)

and the painting looks so familiar, i must have seen it somewhere before, and it irks me

if i were a betting man, id say that is the skyline of Ijmuiden
