Hi Mopar Friends,

We've hung all the new sheet metal and screwed everything in place for fitment and alignment.

Looking for suggestions from some of you more experienced members on the welding order. I would assume we start welding the floor pans and work our way out and around to the front.

New Sheet metal installed:

Floor pan
Trunk pan
Trunk floor extensions
Rear wheel houses
Rear quarter panels
Rocker panels
Rear valance
Upper cowl
Front inner fenders

Appreciate your thoughts and experiences.

Thanks,
Tim K

You have a lot to do there,
Remove quarters
remove wheel houses
remove trunk pan & extensions
remove rear valance

Then mock everything up
Wheel houses
trunk pan & extensions
rear quarters

Then remove and mock up rockers
Screw everything in place do not weld, make sure everything is lined up where you want it
Leave the doors on make sure alignment of rear quarters are good.
if you are satisfied with the placement of everything then start welding in
Make sure the the car is supported on jack stands and level.

after you're done with the rear section move onto the front
Cowel & inner fenders

Thanks Ron816, everything is already screwed in place and fitment and alignment are complete. I'm ready to start welding. It sounds like you agree with my assumption to begin welding with the floor pans and work my way out to the quarters and on to the front cowl and inner fenders.

Be patient when welding, move around with your tack welds, have an air blower handy to keep cool. Try to make clean welds, makes it easier when grinding them down. One area to check is where the outer wheel house lip meets the rear quarter lip, you want them butted together tightly so you can spot weld the lip, don't forget to drill the spot weld holes in the lip of the quarter panel ahead of time.

That's how I'd go about it. From the inside out. But, I've been told I'm not the sharpest knife in the drawer...

I will agree with @Ron816 when he says to spread tacks around and blow them cool. Too much heat WILL cause warpage. If you take your time, it will be much better.

Id start with the floors. Start up front & work your way back. but thats me everyone is different
