Today, dollar for dollar, is the 318 faster than the 340 ???
I agree you can put money into any engine and make it go be it chevy ford or dodge, and i have several 318 engine cars that run very well. but I am old school and drove the 340' in the day, and I still have one. The saying in 1970 was a dummy can drive a 340 and win 90% of the time. But it took skill to race well with any 383 roadrunner or a 440 GTX for that matter. I saw many a dart wax 440 B bodies because the owners did not know how to control them. To me the 340 Dart was like riding a 900 Z-1 kawasaki. it was a pussycat at an Idle, but one twist of the throttle and that bike was gone!
back then the street was not like the track, lots of dummies who thought they were fast.
The fastest did the most with the least. But I like your post, anything that keeps the Interest
up in the old mopars is fine with me.
