Today, dollar for dollar, is the 318 faster than the 340 ???
If a 318 is doomed to never equal and or out power 340/360 cause of it's slightly smaller bore 22/42 cid difference. A 340/360 should never come close to a 440 80-100 more cid and a 340/360 bore don't even come close to a 440's, so why waste your time with any small block?? Why?? cause every engine has a reasonable power ability and there's a lot of overlap, most performance NA engine's are gonna be 0.9-1.4 hp per cid and even more for some people. For a 318 250-350 hp ain't that big of deal, 350-450 hp is very do able but most are gonna go with bigger cid and very few are gonna try the 450-650 hp even most 340/360 guys won't try with stock stroke cause rpm needed gets to high for most.
I don't see how people think a 0.060" 328 10.5:1 cr zero decked eddy head and 750 airgap with a 235 ish cam with .500-.550 lift 4000 stall and 4.56 gear ain't gonna take down a lot of cars on the street, or what ever well built 318 someone does, sure there will always be faster cars but that's the case almost 99.99% time with what ever engine you run.
