What Are You Doing To/With Your Car Today?

Yeah better find where that tick is coming from before running it down the road. Good 383s are getting hard to find, hate to see you damage that one.

You can put it on TDC firing on #1 mark the timing of the distributor to the block with a dry marker, then pull your distributor.

You can get a look in there with s flash light to see how the lobes of the cam are holding up. Same with the fuel pump rod and cam lobe is right there too to check out.

Can get a peak at that front cam bearing too to see that it is not peeling out at the same time.

Have already pretty much done all that. I knocked the dizzy out removing the right cover and had to re-time it and thusly marked it already!

The bore scope gave me a pretty good look from the right side head but! I did not look at the cam lobes as it was to hard, and concentrated on the lifter tops on both sides to see if a clip popped!
Going to drain the oil and check first. I did not see any metal flakes in the oil on the rockers when the right cover was off. Course it was shut off within 60 seconds.

I ran it for 15 minutes at under 2k mostly except to re-time it this past weekend. If I see metal I will know!

I also did not put it under load in gear on re-fire which would help indicate bearing or TQ issue. I lost my first convertor at the track in 1987 and it sounded just like a main or rod bearing went south.
Thought the motor was toast but it was just the TQ.

Could still be a bearing issue but seriously doubt it! Least I hope so!
