Restoring a 340 need advice

-
Here are some pictures. The whole build of this situation is up in air originally my dad was restoring this car than the divorce came so if the parts my dad had for it went into the car or whether he took them or if the guy that finished restoring moved stuff around. The calve springs and what not were aftermarket and he had said he had a lunati set for it. Here are some pictures pulling it apart currently lots of nasty ness from sitting 6yrs with crum in it. Working on getting cam out right now to see what it is

Those OE exhaust manifolds are definitely not high flowing, so you would certainly gain performance with a good set of headers mentioned earlier. if all the cylinders look like the one shown, then that is a good thing for sure.

Got the cam out looks to be a isky cam. Got some nice warm ice cream too for yall

Welcome to FABO! If you have to bore the cylinders, KB 243 pistons are good replacements for what's in it now. Sometimes, Autozone has 20% off coupons or codes, and you can get a set of Dougs headers for a good price. I believe Dougs D453's are what fits your Cuda. Lunati has a good selection of hydraulic roller cams for small block Mopars. Good luck with the build, and it's nice that you stepped up to fix the car for your Mom.

Yes sorry the valve relief in the piston is .200

That's very generous. You can put a pretty wild camshaft in there if you can reuse those pistons.

Just curious as to why a roller cam in a pretty much stock build? Hydraulic flat tappet and factory rocker arms could get you to your goal and much more budget friendly. A good cam is a Lunatti 703 JMO 65'
i cant find anything pertaining to that? can you link from website or youtube video of sound?

You might already have an Edel carb......or later model aftermarket Carter. Should have a 4 digit number on one of the mounting feet. While I agree an Edel AVS2 would be better, it might not be worth the extra $$$ versus cleaning up the current carb.

the only numbers i could kinda see were on a lever on the side when i type those numbers it takes me to a edelbrock listing on ebay should be similar to a edelbrock performer

What is the intended use for the car? A nice quick street car requiring very little maintenance that you can drive anywhere? No need for a roller as stated above. I don’t like hydr lifters. If I’m putting a new cam in it I’m springing for adjustable rockers and solid flat tappet. The maintenance for a solid is over stated. Once they settle in, check them once a year. Like getting a physical. You can easily get that car in the low 12’s with that intake and some stock 340 exhaust manifolds. Heads are going to be the bottle neck. Other than the 318 exhaust manifolds you have. My point, will roller/headers make more power? Sure, I run 11.80’s at 116 with stock 340 exhaust manifolds and a stock 68-69 340 intake manifold with the dividers cut down. Using a solid flat tappet. How? Head flow and the car is well sorted. How much to you really want to scare mom?

Not sure if I can she and my dad were very much fast mopar fanatics. Her last car was a newer charger and now she is in a challenger haha new cars of course

i think i am looking for a 220 duration at .050 and at least 500 of lift. also what is the stock rocker ratio on these. i would still like to get a upgrade rocker with adjust ability or even Roller
