I went rogue...

A perfect candidate for a turbocharged Subaru engine swap! I used to make them into baja bugs, but Super Beetles are not good for that due to the front end design. Enjoy.

I have to admit, it’s not too fun driving a 60 horsepower car and a world of 300 horsepower Minivans and 400 horsepower pickup trucks and NO ONE obeying speed limits and apparently everyone is late to where they want to get to.

In my city the driving is over the top aggressive…
They will run over my old *** here in Tx less I am going 90!

Veep! Veep!

I don't mind old Bugs. We rented one in Mexico that was an 01 model, lots of slow fun. You should name it Adolph just to piss off the snowflakes.

I sell parts for old VW's for a living... airheadparts.com

FYI 70-71 Superbeetles had the flat front windshields

Friend took his '65 Bug to Irwindale Raceway one Saturday night, Nitro show. In between rounds was usually RWYB, just get in the staging lanes and wait your turn. Off he goes to get the Bug. Finally he get to the water box, 1 little squeak . Lights go green and off he goes:steering:. 19,20,21,22, 23, 23.40 in the pit side lane! " We went to the concession stand at the green, but we made it back to see you in the top end lights." "Ahhh F#$% you guys."

Back when I was still going to school I invited a bunch of my friends to come and watch me race. I tried to explain bracket racing to them. A bug pulled to the line and motored away at the green. After what seemed like forever his competition got the green light and raced after him. the bug ended up winning with a 20 something ET and my friends just walked away shaking their heads.

cuzions buddy had one with a suped up porsche engine, direct bolt in thay say!

Those beetles are SCARY FAST with a little blow through turbo action. around 300hp and no weight. A few of them roam around up here and they are sure a thing to behold.

Had a 63 Baja Bug and a 66 Beetle back 30 years ago. Fun, simple cars. My dad has a 1971 Beetle with 1,046 original miles on it. Got hit in the drivers side A pillar when new. He was gonna build another buggy out of it. He has an original Meyers Manx that is one of the first ones made.

I have been working on this thing for a couple weeks now... good , bad and the ugly.

Found the right rocker shafts askew.... rear sections of the heater channels are toast but really good from the doors forward (future project). I have a 1/4 floor pan to fix the rear seat/battery floor pan. I will fabricate the patches for the left side floor. This car could use new floor oans but patches will make it driveable and that's what I want.

Timed the engine last night with a test light. Going to pull the left valve cover to check for carnage. I have some parts coming today... fuel lines, air filter, etc. Got new plugs and dizzy parts. Once I go to the junkyard for a new-to-me $20.00 batteryI may try to fire it up.

The starter is hot wired with two wires you need to touch to engage the starter.... we will see how THAT works.

LOL......Pretty soon we're going to be saying Civics are cool.
I had a '76 Civic wagon I put a Acura engine in. Was a hot *** ride. Could not put in enough radiator to keep it cool!! Gave it to my sister, who overheated it and ruined the engine...:BangHead::BangHead: That thing flew!!

My plan for this is to simply make it a reliable driver/parts chaser/wife's grocery getter during the summer. I still have my dirt late model project I need to finish.

If I go back to work soon my PT $$$ may give me enough so my friend who does body work can help me get the body off the chassis and install some new pans and fix those heater channels. Really only minor rust repair in the wheel houses... mostly surface rust. Then it will be done.
