Are you saying that perhaps velocity is more important than the exhaust flow numbers?
I always thought what comes in, must go out. I am no head expert by any means just trying to keep up.
It’s all about shape (bell shaped) and velocity. Darren Morgan said to aim for a quiet port that flows 325 FPS and the exhaust will get out. He liked a big exit point at the header flange. On Edelbrock style heads we are limited in size but the speed can be hit. I’ve often kicked around moving the mounting bolt out but I’m not going down that road. It may not pay dividends unless you would get the welder out.
