Hot wiring

If you are going to do it underhood I would go to the resistor so you are not sending it a full 12 volts.
^^THIS^^ and also be aware you "could" have an older 5 pin ECU which requires a 4 pin resistor. Look at the ballast. One end has both terminals jumpered together. This is the incoming "key" voltage. You need to jumper power to that set of terminals. Not that easy, as you need to have both jumpered as well as power to them.

Also, the harness needs to remain connected as it backfeeds power from the "hot wire" to the ECU (as well as everything else on that line, the charging system, etc.

If you are only going to run the car a few minutes, jumpering to the coil is likely fine
