Since September I have had a knee replacement, two heart attacks (both widowmakers) and a shoulder replacement.

I did go back to work after those December heart deals but stopped for the shoulder replacement #2.

The pain was a b*tch for 5 weeks....

Now I'm in once per week rehab... I am ahead of schedule and my surgeon showed me xrays showing the replacement is playing nice with the old bones.

So now I have two fake shoulders, two fake knees, two heart attacks and been married to twowives for a total of 44 years. What a life!

Anywho I called dispatch today and told them to have a red Kenworth washed, fueled and ready for my return the first week in August. Just working two days per week... maybe 28-30 hours.

I just hit 50 years and well over 5,000,000 miles in May... not sure I will make another 50 but it's a start.

Hell yeah! Make sure to take care of yourself. Trying to go back to work was the worst mistake I ever made, but our situations are way different. I'd much rather be working, but it's just not in the cards for me.

Sorry... I forgot about the five herniated discs in my back... my chiropractor keeps me remeinded of those.

But look how much Ya saved with those BOGO coupons ! anyway glad our still here and truckin'

If you can kick *** like that for 50 years, you still got a lot of kick in you. Now, go find an *** or 2 to kick, just take it easy!

I went back to work full-time near the end of March. It may go through June of next year. BUT, I didn't have any of those things that you did...I'll start drawing Social Security when this gig is up.

This getting old ain't for sissies I can tell you that. Now I know why my Dad was crabby much of the time.

I feel lucky that I survived those two widowmakers... thought the first one was indigestion. A week later I got the same chest pains and I knew it was time to get to the emergency room.

Funny how I did not like going to that hospital... had several friends check in and checked out dead. But I had a great female doctor. She gave me a choice to go home and die in my bed or take the helicopter ride and get fixed.

22 minute helicopter ride... 50 minutes after it took off the Doc called and told my wife they put a stent in my main artery to my heart and I would be OK. 95% blockage. I had no idea.

The ride cost $28,400! But I had the world's cutest flight nurse next to me. That must have been extra. Thank God I switched my Medicare Advantage plan last year.... saved $5k!

I kinda hope I can finish the projects I have before I get way too old... dirt late model to assemble with my 388" SBM, get this weiner wagon roadworthy and get my Jeep and my F350 back on the road. Oh yea I have a race car trailer to finish.

Thanks for the kind words guys... it really means a lot.

Glad you're on the mend from such a rough time! At least you don't have to hurt a shoulder snatchin the gear stick on a Road Ranger......those things are smooth as butter most of the time.

No, it sure isn't, but I feel very fortunate that, at 61, I can still get out and break up some concrete (this morning) and still do a lot of things. Friend of mine (my age) can't hold his grandkids standing up because he has no feeling in his hands. Another friend of mine who WAS my age never made it to 60. Heart attack while battling the flu. Every day upright is a blessing, especially since the LAST night I spent in a hospital for myself was in 1980 after cracking T-11...

Like said, keep the shiny side up...

They gave me one of two trucks with an automatic. I like it but I'm an old man now... years ago I would prefer a two stick 5X4...

You just hit 50 yrs of driving or age ?
If its driving that puts you at 70ish... no way I am working till 70 !
I was told I cant take it with me and I figure life will be cheap when I am 80 . Assuming I go that far .
I am taking SS at 63-64 and working part time fun job. Nothing that follows me home...

The power company I work for said years ago, they were going to start buying Digger Derrick trucks and Bucket trucks with automatics. I fussed and cussed longer and louder than anybody about it....and guess who got the first one that came in?!?! Funny thing is....I kinda got over bitching about it by lunch time the first day I drove it! Didn't take long that they couldn't have run fast enough to give me another 5 speed with a 2 speed axle truck!

Prayers for ya.I rather be working also!I've had stuff wrong with me and keep goin.

what affect is this going to have regarding your CDL?

I was able to retire at 37 yrs of driving, and have never looked back. Was on nite road and could not sleep during the day. I shouldn't be here , found out what was wrong after retiring. Picked up used cars for a dealer and delivered some expensive new cars to customers for a couple of years, and when it got busy, it wasn't fun anymore. I can always find something to do, and if I don't, that's fine too. I don't need the money. Take care of yourself, no one else will.

Do whatever works for you and what you enjoy but listen to what your body tells you..
Im 69 years old, retired at 62 mostly because I needed to care for my wife but I needed to leave as I was betrayed by two of what I considered to be close co-workers (long story), the resentment was something that was ruining me, so the choice to retire was clear.
I worked part time after that for a few local construction trucking outfits and some smaller excavators, I've worked two jobs most of my working life, so working P/T was no big deal
I like having extra money and it funded my car projects now that I was in a position to finally afford a hobby car.
But the problem is 62 yrs old to 69 yrs old isn't like 50 to 60 years old. The last almost 8 years from retirement have taken a toll.
I worked a actually 8 hour day yesterday in the heat, no breaks, im exhausted today.
My point is work for the right reasons and when the reasons aren't right, as hard as it is dont be afraid to open that next chapter in life...... You have been given and I have also received a gift that many others dont get so we should use it wisely.
Best of luck.....

None....I already am in a yearly DOT physical schedule because my A1C was at 7.2. Now it's down to 6.5.

I passed my DOT before I went back to work in April 5 months after those heart issues. Blood pressure is under control. My weight is back up after losing 55 lbs after the heart attacks. But Im still down 30 lbs and trying to keep it off.

I started collecting SS @ 62 but kept working. I owned my own truck for the last 18 years I worked. Quit in 2013 then went back full time as a hired gun in 2015.
