'65 Gas Tank Installation: Filler Tube before or after?

This is what I did. I put the tank in with the nut on the strap just started so the tank is loose. Then I wiggled the filler neck in with a bit of silicone paste on the rubber grommet. I was still a bit of a fight but went in well.
