Not sure who/when where the RTV got in the transpan screws - sure wasnt me.

Here's a better shot of the engine's oil pan.
I know exactly who did that. Friend's shop - and one of the reasons not ever going to let his guy touch any of my cars ever again.

He put the old pan on the new engine because he noticed the pan that was on it had some rust spots in it when installing the dipstick tube???

Did I mention I hate RTV?
Silicone and too much torque. (could have been after it started leaking.) Silicone seems to soften and break down cork/rubber. I rarely had transmission pan leaks. I made sure they were straight and tightened the bolts down with a short handled 1/4" drive ratchet. (and no silicone)
