Today, dollar for dollar, is the 318 faster than the 340 ???

What I meant by that is all of your constricting rules. You know, the gotta buy it and not already have it. If somebody already HAS a good 340 core and all it needs is a basic rering and rebearing, by your little box, they're disqualified.

I GET the point of your post and agree. But it's slanted to your favor right away. Because we all know an already existing good core 340 with 3K thrown at it would eat all 318 commers for lunch.
I agree. With a a 340 core and three grand you'd get that thing running real good. may even have money left. This is assuming you have everything from intake to exhaust manifolds which are high flowing. But yes the scenario is biased and one way leaning, but look at what we've learned here...:) ( no I'm not scrapping my 340s to build a 5.2 Magnum, but if I were so inclined that's what I'd do because of the magnum heads.)
