Today, dollar for dollar, is the 318 faster than the 340 ???

Bad part, if you spend a few bucks in that 318, how far do you go into that hole before you can’t back up? Carb intake and cam is it then you got a peppy little engine but no world beater and can back away easy.

I agree. With the LA 318s I've built it was never anything more than cam, headers, intake and 4 barrel. Plus the gasket kit bearings oil pump timing chain etc.

After that however it ran was how it was. hell I think the last one had stock heads on it. I would like to try the same recipe on a magnum though.
