Today, dollar for dollar, is the 318 faster than the 340 ???

So my takeaway is this, a 318 guy will build a 5.2 "Magnum" or put "Magnum heads" on his LA 318, plus some other parts and tweaks , and show up to race the 340. If said "magnum" guy wins, he'd walk away claiming "it was a 318" even though it was in all reality a 5.2 Magnum or a bastardized version of an LA with swapped magnum parts. Am I in the ballpark? I mean in the end its all semantics, however its technical communication, referring to a a 5.2 Magnum as a 318 LA is misleading.
