Just thinking about one more thing, and everyone likes to save money:
"Lots of times the main carrier bearings start to get wore enough to let the ring gear to start moving away from the pinion gear a few thousands, changing the wear pattern and creating a gear whine."
So if is the case, you have to pull the chunk to do it, but.
You can adjust in the the drivers side carrier bearing one notch to bring the ring gear back into spec with the pinion to make up for the wear in the carrier bearings.
Want to do it in a manner the properly sets the gear lash as you know though.
No parts to buy, just adjusts it back up.
Clean out the banjo housing and put in fresh gear lube with some lucas and you will be mint again.
