Stop in for a cup of coffee

Well I am getting my mess put together for the last and final Cowboy shoot of the year. I will be shooting against another State Champ today so I will be pushed for sure. I love shooting against him as he is very fast. And a mere twenty or so years younger and he competes in a different division. But none of that matters when we line up side by side. He is an excellent competitor. I will find out today if I managed to pull off a victory in the Buckhorn challenge as well. At this point I am on top but folks get today to post more points. Hopefully my lead is enough to hold, we will see. Imagine shooting a pistol cartridge in a lever action rifle (1897 vintage) equipped with Buckhorn sights only, then engaging targets from 200-400 yards. It is a bit of a challenge. Trying to hit 8 inch plates. It is one of my favorite events, keep in mind the load has to be SASS compliant so very low power loads. You shoot, have a cup of coffee, maybe a biscuit then listen to see if you here the ring on the steel. It is a hoot. At even two hundred yards I have so much elevation correction I cannot even begin to see the target. You line up on center and add elevation hoping you don’t deviate from center axis, hah! Good times.
