old guy needs fun modern-ish driver
IDK if the mod motors are as tough or not, I have had several 5.4 mod motors with 150k plus miles that still ran fine, no issues, and a couple of 4.6s, but I can honestly say that I have abused the hell out of a couple dozen Windsor engines, both 5.0 and 5.8 versions and never grenaded one. In the end I expect it comes down to personal preference, the Windsor has been around since 1962, and the mod since about 1992.
Edit
I have read build articles on modular engines that made crazy amounts of power from such a small displacement, plus the millions of mod motors built since 1992 suggests that they are as durable, but I am not as familiar with them as I am with the Windsor.
