Any AMC gurus out there in Moparland?

I ran a 68 AMX for about 20 years before I took a break from racing. Had a 1971 401 (factory supplied forged steel crank and rods) with dog leg heads. There is definitely an aftermarket parts community out there. If it's still in existence as an organization the National American Motors Drivers & Racers Association had parts vendors associated with it.
