destroked 340

It's no secret, 4.04 bore and a 2.97 stroke crank. Not the hot set up unless you are running a class that is pounds per cubic inch. Besides, you'd have to wind the snot out of it to make any power, 9000+ RPM. And that kind of RPM is not viable with 59 degree lifter blocks so why would you care anyway?
Right from the .outh of a guy that raced a Boss 302 in the Trans Am series; they could run the Ford and Chevy 3" stroke engines to 9,000 RPM and 9,500 RPM to get past another or prevent being passed. The destroked Mopar 340s at 2.97" were red lined at 9,500 RPM but could be pushed to 10,000 RPM. Lifter angle did not seem to be a problem for them.
I was a Corner Marshal at Edmonton International Speedway. Between these Trans Am cars and the Group 7 Sports Racing CanAm cars, what a rush. Usually worked long 1 corner. With 3/4 of a mile straight, those CanAm cars were up to 220MPH approaching the corner.
