One of my customers wanted a Chevy truck jack powder coated.
One of my best powder coating customers wanted a dirty old 1982 Chevy C10 truck jack powder coated. I told him that it would be better to clean it up really well and paint it. If I powder coated it, I would have to totally disassemble it (and it was riveted together), clean out all the 40 year old grease, media blast everything, powder coat everything and then reassemble it. I shot him a estimates for painting and for powder coating. The powder coating price was about 5 times higher than paint due to the amount of labor involved. A painted jack would have looked great, but he wanted it powder coated. I think it came out pretty good. I am retired and only want to do this part time, so this was more than I normally want to dig into. BTW, the bolts in the 2nd picture were just to hold it together temporarily while test fitting things.
