Compression Calculator

Thanks for taking the time to write that out. I emailed Hughes and called racer brown also, just for all around comparison. I haven't heard back just yet.

I was very honest with all of them of what I had for an engine, and what my intentions are. What I told them I want is a very strong street car that makes power in the lower end. I don't want to have to wind it up to 5k before it starts making power. It also has to have at least 10" of vacuum for the EFI. I want to be able to drive it as much as possible, in the summer, it would be great as a commuter.

I know what you mean about three weeks isn't that long, in the grand scheme.

Well, I know that even with the 704 I do have 10” vacuum at idle. The comp cam should do better than that. Low end power could be better, which is why I went with the 4.30’s to keep my engine RPM’s a little higher even on the freeway. But I don’t have to wind to 5k to make power. Once it hits 3k it’s a rocket ship. It cruises well between 2,200 and 2,500, and with my set up 65mph in 6th puts me at 2,200. Typically traffic on the freeway moves more like 70-75 which works out fine, right at 2,500 at 75. So it’s not like a commuter cruising at 1,600, but it does way better than the 3,400 rpm I was pulling with the 3.55’s and 4 speed. And when I was doing that the engine was plenty happy. Taking off slow from a stop took a little clutch, driving it like I stole it worked ok though. 4.10’s would have been fine.
