Few days ago I found out when selecting the first gear (position 1 on gearselector steering column) that there is no movement at all! As if it is in Neutral.
In manual low, the L/R band applies AND the FWD clutch.
But you can take the band out and never know it because the one-way will still give you a forward gear.
To isolate if it is the band or the clutch, you try reverse. If you get reverse, the band is fine. But just because you do not get reverse does not automatically prove the band is bad!. You could still have a bad Hi-clutch, or a failed pump. Time for a pressure test.
If the car does not move, you cannot select second or third, unless you have installed a manual valve-body.
