Ive had it for about 2.5 years. About a year and a half ago I was going to sell it because a 1973 340 / 4 speed Duster fell in my lap and just needed to be finished off.
I put it up for sale and continued to drive it. It started making a thumping noise from the bellhousing (turned out to be the flex plate) and decided not to sell it like that. Around the same time I bought some Speedmasters on sale. I had a spare 318 block and 340 crank. As always I have a buckle of small block parts laying around so I decided to build it. I have a friend who has a trans shop and he had a customer who had a 727 built for a stroker. That customer decided to go with a big block so I got this well built trans for $900. Deal!
At this point I’m just going to keep the truck. I’ll be giving my TDI Jetta Wagen to my 16 year old daughter and daily drive the truck.
Further plans are to replace the 2.71 gears with 3.21’s. I have all the parts to rebuild the suspension too.
Until I need paint and body money for my 70 cuda it’s a keeper.
