Cross ram intakes on a small block

So I've been running this set up on my well driven show car since 2005. It has 2 500 Edelbrock Performers (AFB style). It runs great and once warmed up is perfectly driveable on the street (it is a cold natured beast with no manifold heat). I have friends that run a MaxWedge in stock eliminator so they had a set up to balance the carbs when I first put it on. I think if I were going to do this today I'd try the Edelbrock AVS IIs. One big heads up. Out of the box these things had a tendency to puddle gas in a couple spots in that big plenum. The result is backfire that can crack the top plate (and blow out the power valves in Holleys). Mopar figured this out a long time ago and any Direct Connection Engine book has a set of diagrams of things to modify inside the plenum BEFORE you use the manifold. Someone tipped me off to this and it wasn't hard (but you need somebody that is good at aluminum welding). I never have had those problems. If you can't find the diagram PM me and I'll send it along.

When I bought the manifold, I was told that I'd never be able to run it on the street - 20,000 miles later put the lie to that.
