Cross ram intakes on a small block
I though it was just the shape or clocking of the water neck and the bypass port position, very minor. I had the same one you have. Had a 90 NPT nipple for the bypass. Same Buddy Bar casting, mine never had the original cast top. If you could integrate some sort of pop off provision (ie a core plug) or even a Ford EGR carb base with a rubber cap on the spud so it will have a chance to vent any backfire to save buckling that $$$ top.
