Guns, Dogs and Blades QnA

Well good morning to all of you GDB (Guns,Dogs and Blades) followers. Today I have to begin practicing for an upcoming Instructors class I am attending. I have enrolled in a instructors class for red dot from the Modern Samurai Project. The founder’s standards are very high and I fear I am a bit long in the tooth for the class. He is all about fast draw and small targets at high speed. His teaching is world renowned and his classes sell out months in advance. He is a top tier instructor. I am far less interested in attaining a black belt and far more interested in becoming a better instructor. Often times at the range when I am doing practice drills for this match or that one folks will kind of stand around and watch. Invariably they interrupt my training session and ask questions. It used to annoy me but then I decided to utilize it as a training aid figuring it replicated the distractions you incur at a match that tend to pull your focus away. Long story short often times I am rocking a red dot and felt I could not adequately answer the spectators question on how I accomplished XY or Z. Thus my pursuit of better training as an instructor. I figure if I cannot explain it adequately I do not fundamentally understand it. For sake of this class I will go with my SIG X5 Legion with Delta Pro red dot. I am going to utilize a strong side IDPA drop holster which I will get penalized for, but I am just not an appendix carry guy so in my mind why practice that which I will never do! He is all about the appendix carry. Again I am much less concerned about attaining his black belt as I am about evolving as an instructor.

Appendix carry is a tough one to get used to. I’m not there yet but I want to be.
