Neutral safety switch

The single pin switch on your 1967 auto transmission is the Neutral Safety Switch. The wire that attaches to it is brown in color and the other end of that wire attaches to the "G" terminal on the starter relay.
When you are in park or neutral the switch "grounds" the one side of the starter relay.
