1965 MMP's Barracuda Hemi swap! The Ever Changing Build
Got antsy last night, while the kid and the wife worked on homework so I stepped out to the garage and ended up swapping the passenger side head. To my surprise this motor looks like it is a very low mile motor, I was able to clean the pistons almost spotless with a small amount of work and brake cleaner. The heads i pulled off were just as clean. Pistons look stock but i can't tell, they have a few part numbers on them that I googled and couldn't find any info!?! 21_015 1404 06450249 ?? The cylinders don't have much if any build up or top ring ridge. Also I noticed all the water passages where clean and the pushrods themselves have minimal wear!
What I thought was crazy about the heads are physically they are same size, but the ports exhaust and mostly the intake are monstrous compared to the early 5.7 head I pulled off.. I can see why the guys on engine masters got the results they did..
Tonight I'm hoping to get the other side swapped and everything torqued down. I have a pushrod measuring kit for the hemi coming from MMX once I have that I'll be able to order the correct pushrods.
