Dangerous

I recently posted something pretty similar to this. It still amazes me what people do to vehicles and probably think they are quite handy!
In another world id wish I was his friend/neighbour and I could help/teach him.
He is a career military man, married with two young children.
He has been redeployed twice and im sure will be again
I got annoyed when I saw this "repair" but im sure he didnt mean to intentionally cause any harm.
What he did not realise that loosing steering in this Jeep even though it rarely see's over 30MPH could easily involve a fatality.

The part is not a bolt as i thought but a machined shaft with bushings. The end appears to be turned down and threaded with a castle nut/ cotter pin
He must have snapped the threaded part off and just tacked it to the mounting bracket
