Thanks for the links. Let's just assume for the sake of argument my grounds and switches (park and dash) are good. What's next?
My point is, I'm trying to learn something here. Sure, check the grounds. Maybe test the switch. Maybe just throw a new one in. That's what most would do. The Factory Service Manual says the islands could be worn or broken? I'm trying to understand what that means. I actually have NOS replacement gears and latches, but I don't just want to throw un-necessary parts at it. Yet, lol.
