The cables will suck fluid thru them. They’re designed too. This can create not only air pockets but can make you think it’s sucking ATF. With the trans topped off in Neutral and running. Cycle thru all the gears,P, R, D, 1, 2 and then work back to Neutral, re check your level.

And keep in mind, that housing that Parking cable goes into can hold a full pint or better of fluid too. You also have two pumps in a push button to fill too
