I hear that. Things could be a lot worse, I never have people acting hateful or disrespectful towards me which I'm thankful for. People here are generally very kind, friendly, open, caring etc. It's just the long-term effects of being away from "my kind of people" that has slowly but steadily gotten me more depressed over the years. It's weird too when everyone around you at work, at the store, at the gym, looks the same, talks the same, have the same interests... it's just lame and boring. I appreciate your input in this thread btw it's all been very helpful.
I hate to tell you this but moving to rural anywhere with what you just wrote tells me if you aren't happy now were you are, you won't be happy were you are thinking of moving
Go were the money and opportunities are, go we're a population of people having the same faith as you live. You can interconnect and have more of a semblance of what is important to you
You need to seriously think this through, there is a lot of variables at play here
