Do I have the wrong inspection plate?

Our rainy season gets pretty intense, so there’s a very good chance it’ll be under water at some point.

This has me thinking… WHY would they intentionally mold the inspection plate with a gap like that?
I don't know what else to tell you. I've told you three times now, another member has shown you pictures of his. You act like we're lying to you. You have the right cover. Just because it doesn't make sense to YOU doesn't mean it's not the right one. Modify it and blue glue the crap out of it and seal it air and water tight for all I care. They worked fine for 70 plus years on millions of vehicles. You have plenty of other much more pressing things to waste time on, imo, but have at it.
