Been a busy few days here, got off work early Friday, came home and replaced the fried steering column in my Dart, ( thanks gdrill! ).
Had to do a little bit of wiring repair, the ignition switch shorted out, cooked the fusible link before I could get the battery disconnected, and there were some minor differences from my column to the one I got from George, but at least it runs again, and I have a real steering wheel instead of that aftermarket quick release pos. I also took out the shitty aftermarket seats that came with it, and bolted in a pair of buckets from a 2000ish Dakota that I snagged from the local auto wrecker a few weeks ago. Much more comfortable, plus they recline, got them from a club cab model, so both seats also flip forward, something the crap I took out did not do. Nice cloth upholstery, and in pretty good shape too. I even decided to install the rims I bought in February. Holy ****, I've been putting a lot of time into this shitbox! I replaced all of the wiper bushings earlier this summer, and I also got some defroster hoses rigged up, cleaned up the instrument cluster, replaced the bulbs, replaced one of the heater control cables, should have done both,:BangHead:, also changed the fan switch, and put in a coolant reservoir/windshield washer tank combo from a fox body Mustang that I had laying around, still need to wire up the pump and get hoses and windshield squirters.
Today I opened up the wiring harness on the motor I took out of my Bronco and was able to find out why the oil pressure and temp gauges didn't work, changed 4 wires on the other engine's harness, and problem solved! Spent the rest of the day tidying up the garage and loading up some scrap metal into my trailer so I can make a run to the scrap dealer in town. Now I'm on beer #2, and about to have dinner.
