Was that the hot rod video where they did that with a 5.9 - 408 engine? While the 34 hp gain is not worth the expense for 99.9% of anybody stroking an engine, I myself can’t think of anyone doing what hot rod did. The real win is what is on top of the engine, 340/360 or a 408. The better the (high performance or race) parts on top, the bigger the spread will be over the smaller engine.

I could only use that stock to stroker bottom end and stock top to replace a worn out engine in a work truck that already had a bit of a short coming in hauling the loads it’s expected to do. I guess an example could be a landscaper’s truck. Or truck towing the race car. The extra torque would be most handy.
