From pictures, I don't think a trap would be required as it appears located positive side of the blower - it would drain regardless. But without a trap it would be noisy.
No you are thinking of AC. This is the drain from the condensing furnace and has to be trapped "normally" to keep combustion gas out of the drain, and out of the heated space
