This is one I should have kept but sold it back in 2006 on eBay to a guy in Illinois. It was a very cool complete numbers matching 1972 340 4-Speed Demon. It was an original FE5 red car with black tail, hood, and side stripes with the factory hood scoop on it along with a black vinyl top. If I remember correctly it had 3.91 gears in it as well. At one time it was a very sharp looking street machine!
I purchased the car from the original owner’s nephew so I was able to get some history on the car. The Demon was being stored in a dairy barn since sometime in 1980. The nephew just dug it out of the barn for the first time since 80 literally the day before I saw it setting outside. The dents in the front fender and driver’s door were from cattle and farm equipment bumping into it over the years! The original owner basically modified and raced the Demon from the day he bought it... then around 79 / 80 he decided to rebuild the car. As you can see he got as far as taking it apart and unfortunately sanding most of the paint off before all work just stopped. Then for whatever reason it just sat unfinished in the barn all that time. Other than the surface rust is was an extremely solid car being stored indoors all of those years.
A cool side note shortly after I purchased the car I was talking with another local Mopar guy that has owned his AAR Cuda since 74. Anyway I was telling him about the Demon and turns out he was friends with the guy back in the day. According to him the Demon had quite the reputation of being a very fast car back then verifying some of the history I was told originally by the nephew! Small world...
