After having several people hurt using heavy duty Jack stands rated for much higher than that, one of the mechanics came up with the idea of using 2x4s, stacked up like a tower, bolted together. After some testing and verifications by the engineers, it was gov approved. That was 7 years ago and they’ve not had a Jack stand related injury since and serviced hundreds of Humvees this way.
I used it this concept on my dart. Sadly the squatters stole mine.
So I worked for a DoD contractor that on one of our contracts, they were responsible for rebuilding up armored Humvees. Weighing in excess of 15,000 pounds and then some.
