Hello…

Hello everyone, I’m Tim (oldcardude48), and I just found out about this forum while watching a video on the ‘Uncle Tony’s Garage’ YouTube channel. I’ve been a Mopar guy (with some deviations along the way with a couple of Bow Tie muscle cars and Hot Rods and a really comfortable 1985 Buick Riviera, and a couple of Oldsmobile Cutlass Supremes…) since high school in the late Seventies. My first car was a 1967 Camaro RS, that I bought when I was 16. My second car (bought while I was tearing apart, rebuilding, and blowing up the Camaro), was a 1955 Chevy Bel Air, that I couldn’t pass up. It had a hot little 283 and a 3 speed manual, a drivers seat and a fire extinguisher! I was intrigued! My THIRD car was a 1969 Dodge Dart GT, and I bought THAT one because I needed reliable transportation because I kept blowing up the Chevy’s! I had built the living daylights out of the Camaro’s 327/4speed, and I’d swap that motor and trans between the Camaro and the ‘55 (which I was hopping up as well) and I found myself, frequently and awkwardly, with TWO cars and no transportation!

Enter the Dart GT. It was a Slant Six car with a 3 speed automatic, and I loved it, probably because I couldn’t kill it. I drove that Dart for years, all the while thinking (mistakenly) that I was a “Chevy Guy”. Well, the Camaro lasted about ten years (a girlfriend nagged me out of it) and the ‘55 about six, but I kept that Dart throughout both of the Chevy’s years and I’ve never forgotten it. Over the decades, I’ve had a handful of Mopars, and I kept up my ‘Hot Rod’ fix through my 1963 Dodge Town Panel Truck. I replaced the original Slant Six (I somehow managed to blow IT up!) with a pretty hot 318 LA backed up by a built 727. Along the way, I’ve had a 1969 Dodge D-200 4WD Power Wagon, Step Side, Long Bed, that was originally bought by the US Navy, and now I’ve got a ‘95 Dodge Ram 1500 and a ‘95 Ram 2500 I’m parting out, to fix up the 2WD truck as a daily driver.

But as to why I’m here, like I said, I never forgot that ‘69 Dart, and I want another one. As soon as I’m finished with this Ram 1500 (swapping in the Magnum 360 and most of the near perfect interior from the 2500), I’m going to start looking for a ‘69-ish Dart, preferably a 4 speed car, that I can transplant my hopped up 318 from the Town Panel into and have some
‘A’ Body fun again!
