La vs Magnum oil pans

I bolted several Magnums into my '68 Barracuda Convertible that originally had a S6.

I used an LA road race oil pan from Milidon with a matching pickup and steel braided dipstick line.

I used the two-piece Superformance gaskets with dollop of Ultra seal in the corners. I did have to hammer the oil pans ledge flat along the last inch or so of the curves of the oil pans. (See pictures.) I did have to notch the K-member slightly to fit the pan, and I added a Torque Rod strut to support the driver's side motor mount.

The deviation in the oil pan sealing lip near the corners of the circular oil pan cutouts is shown intact in these pictures. I used a small hammer and metal block to flatten the railing and remove the notches.

Prior to catching this oversight, I had a pretty good oil leak under throttle at road speed due to the difference in the lips on the oil pans between LA & Magnum.

I run the one piece Magnum gasket on my unmodified LA oil pan by filling in the notch with RTV. Been like that for several years and no issues.

I would prefer to modify the pan and not depend on a blob of RTV, but it was quick and easy so I went with it.
