Ford 272 C.I. runs low 11's. Why do Mopar guys need 408's?

Since we're talking fords... My customer I helped do a frame off restoration on a seventy two hi boy of course bought Of shore H e I one wire distributor and the cheap sherpin Broke and and left him stranded... He fixed it himself and after another couple hundred miles that broke again and left him stranded.. This time he took it to the machine shop and they fixed it proper... Again the engine stopped running eighty miles out of town three hundred feet from an exit on the freeway.. He got towed home and pulled the distributor to find that the gear had not broken off.. I put it back in for him got it running and determined he had ran out of gas... LOL...
