Yup side gaurds would do it as far as I'm concerned
I'm not helping enforce any of their blanket rules. If the kids can't see what they are doing, or can't use a tool properly because the gloves don't fit or are too grippy, then that's not safer.
I don't see why gloves are needed when swinging a maul or using a two man saw. Hands are no where near where they can get hurt.
