Well, IMO he’s reached the point(probably a few steps ago) where he’s chasing that glory number at .500 lift.
The flow at that point hasn’t really improved in the last several “cuts”.
And the stuff above and below .500 is only changing a couple cfm here and there, and not always for the better.
Here’s my(likely to be unpopular) view........
The port is just “too small” to be flowing 270+.
And the speeds prove that out.
The basic shape of the port isn’t conducive to being able to allow the flow to be 270, and still get that column of air to negotiate the SSR without separation.
And, it’s not going to(imo).
I feel that as far as making power is concerned, if the port flowed around
[email protected] lift, and then just stayed there at higher lifts, it would make just as much power as if it showed a 270cfm peak @.500, then dropped off to 250....... like it does now.
It would make for an interesting test......... but that’s just another one that will never happen.
Again, I’m glad I’m not the one making the chips on that job.
Plus, he’s still plugging away at it...... so he might figure something out to help the flow up top and prove me wrong.
