Stop in for a cup of coffee

Yep, I would leave old patina before grabbing a can of black paint, wouldn't you ?

I didn't. I only have 1 stall to work out of and that's the stall my wife parks her car in. My 66 spent the winter in the garage while I rebuilt my 273. When it was together on the stand it was time to get it in and out of my (her) hair. I popped the hood and thought to myself, no way am I going to put that new mill in that old rusty hole. I scuffed and sanded, primed and painted it with a couple cans of John Deere gloss black. It looked good and much better than the rusty scuzz that was there before. It's a project I should have started earlier but not much time.
