340 dip stick length

What is the correct dipstick length and tube connected to block length for the an LA340? After changing the oil and adding 5 quarts, the level is showing approx. 1 quart low. Making use of Milidon 5 quart oil pan. Engine makes use of 1 quart filter and was run prior to checking oil level. This is a engine startup/break in after rebuild. Have no reason to think dip stick is incorrect for engine but got engine in pieces.
