Stop in for a cup of coffee

I was with a friend spending the weekend because strawberries was not read to pick, my friend knew him and it was up on stilts, walked up the stairs and nocked, he waved us in, never new who he was till later when I was 12 or 13, I had to be 10 at the time, wild ain't it.

When I was a kid, we had a strawberry patch next to our back yard patio near the shed... Mom wondered why we didn't get any strawberries for three years...

Then one day she caught our oldest Dalmatian, red mouthed, raiding the strawberry patch...

She asked the Dal, "what are you doing in the strawberry patch"???

The Dal just acted innocent like she did not know it was a strawberry patch... "what strawberry patch"???

Mom asked, "why is the white fur around your lips stained red"???

The Dalmatian licked her lips to get rid of the evidence... "What red stains on my lips, there are no reds stains on my lips"...

But it didn't come off as the strawberries stained the white fur red...

The Dalmatian was even smart enough to only eat the ripe red strawberries and leave the green ones for later... She was no dummy...

After that, my parents put up a chicken wire fence around the strawberry patch to keep the Dalmatian out.. Funny, we got strawberries out of the patch from then on...
