Damn, that looks like me as a kid. A buddy and I built a go cart from scratch.
Solid rubber wheels, slip belt drive, crude steering, no brakes. We spun a wheel of of it one day, and it went spinning down the road, hit the curb and jumped over my grandmother's head. It would have wiped her out if it hadn't hit the curb.
